Nearby
- Interesting walks, wildlife, and wild flowers that attract amazing butterflies are on your doorstep. if you are into bird watching bring your binoculars. Birds of prey are a common sight in the valley below. We even have a resident barn owl ! The landscape around the house has inspired many to paint and the dramatic contrasts of light are a photographers dream. With favorable conditions you can see the Black Mountains and the Pyrenees - quite breathtaking. The environment is safe but we ask parents to keep an eye on the little ones as it is quite an exciting place for the young adventurer. Briatexte is our local village with bread shops, hairdressers, butchers, small grocers and a little road side cafe that serves lunch time menus. The nearest supermarket is at Graulhet - this use to be a wealthy town making its money from the leather industry and many ornate buildings still bear testament to those affluent times. You can also take tourist flights from here.
Locally
- Cosmopolitan Lavaur with its Saturday morning market is not to be missed. Here you will find the Gothic style Cathedral of Saint Alain which celebrated its 900th anniversary in 1998. Many super eating places can also be found here. Gaillac is a beautiful town and the region is renowned for its wine making. There are many things to do and enjoy for all the family. Aiguelèze just outside Gaillac is a fun packed day out for everyone. Here you can take a boat trip to Albi, mess about on the water or enjoy one of the many activities on offer. Not to be missed is the little tourist steam train which takes you from St Lieux les Lavaur to Les Jardins des Martels - a beautiful floral garden with a farm on site to entertain the children - the gardens are ever changing and well worth the visit. Lisle sur Tarn is probably the prettiest medieval village I've seen, where you can dine alfresco around the central square during those long summer nights. Historic Cordes sur Ciel is only 1/2 hour away
