The owners have chosen soft muted colours and the floors on the ground floor are either stone or tiled.rnrnHaving decended the 5 stone steps to the private enclosed garden area, you enter the house and come straight into the kitchen area, where you will find everything you need to prepare and eat a family meal. There is a huge Charentaise fireplace complete with log burner in the living section of this open-plan living space, along with some comfy sofas and a large farmhouse dining table. The separate living room has large comfortable sofas and armchairs and is just perfect for a lazy afternoon either escaping the heat of the sun or lighting the log burner and snuggling up in front of a good DVD from the large library of DVDs, Satalite TV is also available. The owners will provide hands on instruction and wood for using the log burners. There is also a family bathroom downstairs, complete with baby bath, bath toys and non slip mats.rnThe first floor has three bedrooms off the large landing, one double with en suite, one double that can be set up as a twin, or triple aswell and one twin, all large enough to host one of the two cots. Just off the landing is a fantastic collection of toys for all ages from 3 months to grown ups, lots of drawing materials and plenty of good holiday reading with a book swap scheme. There are baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs and all open plug points have covers.rnYou will be spoilt for choice in the gardens at La Ferme. Within the large enclosed private garden that surrounds the gite, you will find a BBQ, garden table and chairs, children’s play equipment, and a large well stocked herb garden that you are welcome to help yourself to. There is an abundance of space to run around here, but if you need more the rest of the grounds are accessed through the gate and up the private steps. In the share area you will find a very friendly dog, a cat essential for keeping the countryside squeeks away and some chickens just waiting to take your veggie scraps in exchange for some fresh eggs.rnrnThe enclosed swimming pool is surrounded by lots of sunloungers on a very child friendly deck; no slippery tiles here! Adjacent to the pool is a large sandpit, a hammock, football and basketball equipment, bikes and a whole host of other outdoor toys.rnLa Ferme is set on the edge of a small hamlet with plenty of walks through the woods and along the little river. Further afield there is plenty to do in the area for all ages, lots of great restaurants within a 10min drive, great shopping and markets for the grown ups and for the littleones Monkey World is a big favourite with over 300 monkeys roaming freely in woodland not a fence insite just water barriers from the larger apes. The lakes of the Haute Charente are just 20mins away and provide that bucket and spade experience on its sandy beaches, essential for any summer holiday
