A collection of 3 gorgeous rental properties set in the rural idyll that is the Loire Valley. Hibou is a first-floor 'apartment' with a private garden area, and sleeps up to 7. Héron is a ground-floor family gite and ideally suited to wheelchair disabled too. Chardonneret is our baby, recently modified and redecorated. Sleeping two, or a couple and baby, it's a romantic, cosy getaway! We're open year-round, so we're able to offer off-season specials too! Le Chant d'Oiseau is also a small (but perfectly formed) camping ground. Regulars return each year to sample the tranquility we offer!

Description
Les Chants d'Oiseaux, as it's been called for centuries, translates as 'Song of the Birds', and gathers together a few ancient farm dwellings and places them in the midst of the stunning rural French countryside, just north of Saumur. More specifically, close to the commune of Mouliherne, in the Maine et Loire. The area is renowned for being the 'Jardin de France', its rich pastures, and well-tilled earth providing much of the nations food. The pace of life here is slower, and therefore healthier than perhaps is good for you! No sooner have you relaxed, thrown off your cares and settled into the rhythm of life in the extreme slow lane, than it's time to go home. But, there's always next year. And the year after!
Local restaurants are superb, including our own daughter's place, not too far from here. And because we've lived in the village for 5 years now, we've built up an awful lot of 'inside information' which we're more than happy to share with our guests to ensure YOU get the best holiday available in this area. Things to do, places to visit. Short strolls in the countryside, or longer cycle rides through the winding Loire lanes. We can tell you where to eat, and where to shop for the best foods the area has to offer. We know where the best markets are, and when they're on! We can arrange anything from civil wedding ceremonies, to hang-glider flying lessons!
We offer you a choice of three lovingly restored gites/apartments (two are fully wheelchair/disabled-friendly), or a pitch on our small (but perfectly formed) campsite. There's a place for you here, whatever the season, whatever the reason.
Héron & Hibou are both family-friendly, and fantastic for two families to holiday together. It's a massive space, and the ground floor is suitable for wheelchair disabled guests too! Specially widened doorways, low 'drive-under' sinks, thoughtfully positioned sockets and light-switches, as well as acres of space to manoeuvre make this gite a popular destination for wheelchair disabled guests! Hibou, upstairs sleeps up to 7 and has a private garden to the side. If you can drag yourself away from the 50" TV, and collection of DVD's, the views from upstairs are across open fields where you can spot deer, sometimes boar and usually the birds of prey, including the owls that live above you! Hence the name!
Chardonneret is our little gem! It sleeps two, or a small family with ease. Lots of time & effort have been spent this past winter bringing our baby gite up to the same specification our guests have come to expect from us. It's turned out to be an eyecatching transformation. The new kitchen is beautiful, with more space to create your culinary masterpieces! The lounge and sleeping area is airy, with plenty of room to accommodate wheechairs, or a cot for baby! We've transformed the bathroom too, with a new look! The lovely deep bath beckons, a relaxing soak after wandering around a chateau or two?
All our prices include your electricity, gas, towels and tea towels for your stay. There's a generous welcome pack for each booking of a week or more too - fresh cheeses, meats, baguette, eggs and butter as well as a bottle of wine ready chilled for your arrival, and much, much more! All you need to do is unpack and relax!
If you're bringing baby, just let us know and we'll make sure there's a high-chair, cot, mattress protectors, safety gates, and even a buggy provided. All free of charge!
We operate a small campsite here too, which lends Le Chant a very sociable atmosphere. Friendships have been forged here, and guests now return year after year, often to meet up with friends they met here the first time around! We serve twice-weekly plat du jour in our covered barn, and these gatherings have proven so popular that guests often now book their places in advance! Weekly wine-tastings on site too, given by a local vigneron friend of ours who speaks fluent English!
You can choose the filling of your choice to have with your fouée, each sunday afternoon too! Freshly cooked in front of your very eyes, in our own bread oven. This is a real treat! A taste of our part of France, a regional delicacy! Or, from time to time, we'll cook pizzas to order too! You really haven't tasted pizza this good!
